Meet the Principal

Cheryl Kenyon

Cheryl Kenyon

Cheryl Kenyon was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska. She graduated as part of a class of eight from Thorne Bay School, and went on to complete her undergraduate and graduate degrees in the University of Alaska system. Cheryl began her educational career in Skagway, Alaska, as the sole 9-12 English teacher. After six years in the classroom, and a year off to stay home with her then-infant daughter, Mrs. Kenyon jumped headfirst into building administration and has never looked back. The 2022-2023 school year marks Cheryl's 18th year in administration: she has served as assistant principal, associate principal, and principal, in Alaska, Arizona, and Washington. Throughout her career, Cheryl's focus has been on building and sustaining relationships with school communities in support of student success.

Mrs. Kenyon has a Bachelor's of Education degree from the University of Alaska Southeast, a Master's of Education degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and has completed the coursework for a doctoral degree from Liberty University. Last year, she completed a certificate program through Cornell University, focused on diversity and inclusion.

As the principal for the Sammamish River Valley Online School, Cheryl's goals continue to focus on relationships, with particular emphasis on ensuring each student feels safe in the classroom, and has ample opportunities for success as a student and school community member.

Mrs. Kenyon lives with her husband, Dan; 18 year-old daughter, Emma; and German Shepherd, Venus. In their free time, she and her family enjoy traveling. When she has free time alone, Cheryl enjoys reading, quilting, and listening to music.

Mrs. Kenyon is always eager to hear from families and students about ways their experience could be improved. Please do not hesitate to reach out to her!
